ROTARY CLUB OF EUREKA WILL BE HELD AT THE ELK’S LODGE AND OUR SPEAKER WILL BE ROB HOLMLUND Speaking About Zoning in the City of Eureka
ABOUT ROB HOLMLUND
Around 200 Eureka community members gathered in the Wharfinger Building on Tuesday evening to share their vision for a clean, bustling, well-lit, safe and prosperous city.
The two-hour “set the tone for your zone” meeting gave the Eureka city development department staff valued insight into what kind of development the people of Eureka want or need in the coming years as changes to the city’s zoning code come down the pipe.
“This is really encouraging to see all these people enthusiastic about the future of Eureka,” the city’s Community Development Director Rob Holmlund said.
The event included presentations, interactive stations and one-on-one property consultations with planners.
On the floor at the front of the hall was a huge printed out map of Eureka with the city jurisdiction and different types of zones colorfully delineated. The walls of the Wharfinger were lined with large sheets of paper asking for community input either through a tally system or through written comments on different areas or aspects of the city such as Old Town, downtown, Henderson Center, the Waterfront, economic development, parking development and more.
“What we’re doing is planning the future of Eureka,” Holmlund said.
